A friend once told me I write at the intersection of rock & roll and faith. I took that as a compliment, mainly because it sounds more intentional than the truth. The truth is that I've always been fascinated by outsiders, misfits, old records, big questions, and the possibility that grace tends to show up where nobody thinks to look. So that's what I write and talk about.
Welcome
Hi, I'm Randy Ross.
I've always been interested in the people standing slightly off to the side. Not because they're cooler than everyone else, but because they're usually asking interesting questions. The kind of questions that keep showing up long after you're supposed to have figured life out. The misfits, dreamers, doubters, and believers who don't quite fit the categories the world gives them.
Maybe that's why I write the stories I do. Through novels, essays, music, and faith, I'm exploring questions about identity, belonging, purpose, and grace. The answers are rarely as simple as we'd like, but I've found that some of the best conversations begin when we're honest enough to admit we're still searching.
What You'll Find Here
This site is a gathering place for stories, songs, ideas, and occasional glimpses of truth hiding in unexpected places. You'll find book recommendations, record recommendations, reflections on faith, updates on my writing, and conversations about the things that help us make sense of life.
I'm not especially interested in pretending I've got everything figured out. I'm more interested in paying attention and inviting others along for the journey. If you're the sort of person who still underlines passages in books, gets attached to albums, or wonders whether there's more going on beneath the surface, you'll probably feel at home here.

My musings can be seen pretty regularly above, but if you would like to have a deeper look at what I am working on, with some exclusive content each month, I’d love for you to subscribe to my newsletter. Truth be told, my newsletter will likely be an email you get from me; but I promise it’ll be worth your time. And I promise I won’t sell your email to anyone else. Just you, me, and some thoughts you will not see on the site.
