You are on my site, and maybe have read something I have written in the last week or so. But I have been writing for a while.
I have written just about every genre: nonfiction, a memoir, an anthology, and a novel. Here is what I am currently working on and what I have written.
Graveyard Girl
This is my first novel! The few people who have read it say it’s a story that deservers the extra attention and reach that traditional publishing can provide. Getting published takes a bit of time, and I want a wide audience to meet Lucy, in this Wednesday meets Pretty In Pink novel, set with a group of youth group kids, that reads like a John Hughes film. Pray that the publishers that see this find it as viable as I do!
Songs and Prayers of The Message
In 2023, I spent several months on a Psalter of sorts, pairing the Psalms from Eugene Petersons The Message with selections from his writings that directly or indirectly relate to that Psalm. Then I added a few dozen additional songs and prayers from Genesis to Revelation. It was a massive undertaking.
A lit agent told me, “I wish Eugene were still with us to see your work. He’d have been honored by your care of (The Message) and your ideas about expanding its reach.” But, with over three dozen books cited in this work, getting publisher permissions is an ordeal that publishers do not want to invest in at this time. So unfortunately, this valuable resource is not available. Bummer.
Puddles and Playlists (aka Hoppipolla)
My wife and I have a Hallmark movie of a love story. One pastor’s wife I know said that ours is her favorite love story. And she has four kids who didn’t fit that bill!
Several years ago, I wrote that story in book form and gave it to my wife for Christmas. Several publisher friends have said they think it’s a great story. I have been working to make it a great book. I think I may switch it from a memoir to a novel, allowing me to embellish some things and tell it a different way. Finally, a book you can actually buy! Glow is all about reflecting the Light of the World. It is basically a transcript of a sermon series I have been asked to preach over a half dozen times at different churches from the Midwest to California. In all honestly, I think it’s a better sermon series than book. But a lot of people have said it is the best, most organic book about evangelism they have ever read.
